Woman attacks Gaugin Painting/A bit about his life

Apparently some woman recently attacked Two Tahititan Women because she thought it was homosexual and offensive…

Now that’s completely ridiculous and uncouth, but the funny thing is that Gaugin actually was a bit of a turd.  

After pursuing a career as a stockbroker, he abandoned his wife and family (with no financial support) to become a painter, wanting to rid himself of “everything that is artificial and conventional”. Like other artists during that time Gaugin went to Arles for a bit to be a depressed painter, and attempted suicide just like his friend Van Gogh. Killing oneself must have been damn near impossible in the late 1800s, because they both failed…

He finally ended up in the tropics and painted/had exploits with a bunch of pre-pubescent girls. He died of syphilis in a jail cell in the French Polynesia.
